DESCRIPTION: Copper Peptide (GHK-Cu) Solution is a 1000ppm synthesized by combining peptides glycyl-histidyl-lysine to copper ion. Copper is an essential element which the body uses to produce collagen. and elastin –proteins responsible for the skin’s youthful appearance. This is why topical solutions containing copper peptide promote collagen synthesis, restore skin firmness, and smoothness and fade fine lines and wrinkles. Copper is also used in melanin synthesis – so this is not suitable for skin-lightening products.

While copper itself is used by the body for several metabolic processes. Copper peptides actually do not contain copper but bind strongly to the copper already available in the skin, making it available to produce all those lovely anti-ageing benefits. Specifically, as it has to do with anti-ageing skin care, it is used to produce collagen and restore skin firmness, displays biocidal properties, etc. With age, the skin wrinkles and becomes rigid, losing firmness, elasticity, tone, thickness, moisture, and texture. A 70-kg healthy individual has about 110mg of copper. Copper is naturally found in meats, vegetables, grains, etc. In the skin, copper stimulates fibroblasts proliferation, upregulates collagen types I, II & V, upregulates elastin fibre components, increases the cross-linking of collagen, and is a cofactor of SOD (Superoxide dismutase) a powerful antioxidant naturally found in the skin. What that looks like at the end of the day is skin that has increased firmness and suppleness, increased elasticity, smoothness, and a reduction in solar lentigines (age spots).

Copper is also used in melanin synthesis – so this may not be suitable for skin-lightening products. If you want to get the benefits of skin copper peptides in a skin-lightening and brightening system, best pair with actives that do not chelate with copper (Example, kojic acid, kojic dipalmitate vitamin C chelate copper). Actives with different mechanisms of action, such as niacinamide or soy protein (melanin transfer inhibition) can work well with copper peptides. If you’re looking for a safer alternative for skin lightening, we recommend our EGF Solution instead.

Copper helps with wound healing and can prevent acne scars from forming if used when the wound is still fresh (within 3 months). It helps remove damaged connective tissues from the skin while promoting new ones. Good for acne scars. Possesses anti-inflammatory properties, boosts improved wound healing and reduces the risk of infections. This makes it perfect for derma-rolling and after chemical peel treatments.

You can also enjoy the benefits of copper peptides in haircare. It increases blood flow, making the nutrients within the skin more bioavailable for the hair to feed on. Copper also helps extend the hairs growth cycle, reducing hair loss and boosting hair length and retention. Copper peptides may also help thicken hair strands and prevent hair greying.

FEATURES

  • Improves skin tone and texture.
  • Repairs and remodels the skin
  • Increases keratinocyte proliferation, collagen, elastin, proteoglycans and glucosaminoglycans (GAGs)
  • Softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Promotes a firmer and supple skin appearance.
  • Possess antioxidant characteristics.
  • Helps boost the results of other anti-ageing and youth-promoting ingredients.
  • Reduces acne holes – scars and enlarged pores.
  • Nourishes the roots of the hair and stimulates hair growth.
  • Perfect paring for your dermaroller of hydra rollers and stamps/
  • Can be applied twice daily – for protection during the day and repair at night.
  • Copper is used for melanin synthesis – so this is not suitable for skin-lightening products.
  • Not compatible with EDTA – EDTA will bind to copper and reduce its bioavailability. Make sure you read the Compatibility section in the how to use.
  • NOTE: Pure Copper Peptide starts of as a blue powder. Constituting a solution dilutes the colour. The assay of copper peptide we offer is based on published studies that show that higher concentration are not needed and can be harmful to the skin. Our solution contains 1000ppm of copper peptide and is a clear blue solution. We do not include added colour in the solution, so don’t expect to have a blue-coloured product after the maximum addition. Blue creams and serums with copper peptide either have way too much copper peptide than is beneficial to the skin or have added synthetic colour – either way is too much/bad for the skin!
  • Pairs well with Hyaluronic acid, Niacinamide, Retinyl palmitate, ceramides, Probiotic Ferment Lysates, D-Panthenol, Retinol peptide. Beta-Glucan, Yeast Beta-Glucan, Pentavitin, Licorice, Aloe vera.

APPLICATIONS: In serums, creams, lotions, ampoules, toners, etc.

Compatibility: For best results from copper, avoid the following

  • Avoid pairing with strong chelating properties such as EDTA, or actives with chelating ability, such as carnosine and glycine.
  • Avoid substances containing hydroxide and ammonium ions, to prevent precipitation and discolouration.
  • Avoid pairing with reducing agents such as glucose, allantoin, compounds containing aldehyde groups for risk of discolouration.
  • Avoid formulating with high molecular weight polymers – such as carbomer to prevent stratification – otherwise test your formula.
  • Advice: Keep your formulas simple with ingredients you know are compatible to avoid incompatibilities. See our simple, single-phase sample formula on the next tab
