DESCRIPTION: Elastin Hydrolyzed (Amino Acids) play a key role in enhancing skin hydration and maintaining its flexibility. Collagen and elastin are the primary proteins present in the dermis, with collagen providing structural support and elastin delivering the skin’s natural elasticity. Located within the dermis, elastin works alongside collagen and other matrix elements to create elastic fibers that allow the skin to stretch and bounce back—enabling expressions and movements, while helping the skin to retain its shape. Over time, and with exposure to UV rays, these elastic fibers deteriorate and become disorganized (a process known as solar elastosis), which results in sagging, loss of firmness, and the formation of deeper wrinkles. Hydrolyzed elastin helps the skin stay bouncy and resilient by acting as a moisture-binding agent that attracts and holds water in the outer layers of the skin. This not only enhances skin hydration and suppleness but also forms a thin, flexible protein film on the surface, reducing water loss and improving the skin’s ability to stretch and return to its original shape. As a result, the skin feels softer, smoother, and maintains its youthful elasticity.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Elastin Hydrolyzed (Amino acids) works through surface and upper‑epidermal mechanisms that translate into visible benefits giving you softer, smoother and supple skin.
- Humectant and moisture‑binding effect
- The small peptides and amino acids in hydrolyzed elastin act as humectants, attracting and holding water in the outer skin layers.
- This improves hydration, softness and smoothness, and can give a subtle plumping effect to fine lines.
- Conditioning and “protein film” effect
- On the surface, hydrolyzed elastin can form a very thin, flexible protein film that:
- Reduces water loss
- Improves slip and feel
- Gives a silky, conditioned finish
- Supportive role for the elastic matrix (indirect)
-
- Elastin Hydrolyzed (Amino acids) provides amino acid “building blocks” in the in the skin
- Help maintain a hydrated, healthy extracellular matrix, which is important for the function of existing collagen and elastin.
FEATURES
- Enhances skin hydration by attracting and retaining moisture in the outer layers of the skin.
- Improves skin flexibility and helps maintain its natural elasticity, supporting a bouncy and resilient feel.
- Forms a thin, flexible protein film on the skin’s surface, reducing water loss and protecting against dryness.
- Softens and smoothens the skin, making it feel velvety and conditioned.
- Provides a subtle plumping effect, which can visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines.
- Supports the skin’s extracellular matrix by supplying amino acid building blocks, promoting the health of existing collagen and elastin.
- Contributes to the maintenance of skin firmness and helps counteract sagging and deeper wrinkles caused by aging and sun exposure.
- Improves the overall appearance and texture of the skin, making it look youthful and supple.
APPLICATIONS: Serums and essences, lotions, creams, eye creams, masks, sheet masks and leave-on masks.
