DESCRIPTION: Cornsilk Extract is obtained from the soft, silky textured threads of the Zea Mays plant. It possesses pore tightening, skin soothing, anti-inflammatory, astringent, anti-oxidant and antibacterial properties. In addition, corn silk extract lightens the skin by reducing UVB-induced skin damage and lowering tyrosinase expression (the enzyme responsible for skin darkening). It has a high content of phenolic and flavonoid compounds, including gallic acid, allantoin, quercetin, octadecadienoic, ascorbic acid, etc.
In one research, skin colour analysis results using a spectrophotometer showed both area and density of hyperpigmentation significantly decreased after 4 weeks and 8 weeks of use of corn silk extract comparable to arbutin.
In another research, corn silk extract was tested in Melan-A cells by measuring melanin production and protein expression. The corn silk extract decreased melanin production by 37.2% without cytotoxicity Invitro, better than arbutin, which exhibited a 26.8% melanin production inhibitory effect at the same concentration.
Invivo, cornsilk extract was applied to the human face with hyperpigmentation. The application of corn silk extract on faces with hyperpigmentation significantly reduced skin pigmentation without abnormal reactions.
As a bio-based raw material, it provides safe and effective skin nourishment with effective skin lightening. For best results, combine with other actives, such as Arbutin-Plus, Probiotic Lystates, Lemon peel bioferment, Niacinamide, Vitamin C derivatives, SkinWhite 7Oil, etc.
