DESCRIPTION: Gromwell CO2 Extract is a supercritical extraction of the Lithospermum erythrorhizon plant. It has multiple skin benefits and is listed as a pharmaceutical because of how potent it is. The supercritical extraction process ensures that all the beautiful benefits of the plant are retained without any solvent residue. It is rich in a compound known as naphthoquinones – shikonin, (Ours contains 25% naphthoquinones) which gives it its reddish, purplish colour. It is used to soothe and heal damaged skin. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory ingredient which makes it ideal for sensitive skin and acne-prone skin types. It promotes wound healing, tissue regeneration and is a valuable addition to any skincare preparation for eczema, skin lesions, hives, bites, rashes, psoriases and measles. It hydrates soothes and repairs the skin. It also gives skin brightening properties by stopping the inflammatory conditions that cause skin darkening.
It takes 50kg of the plant approximately to produce 1kg of CO2 extract, which results in a thick waxy solid. We offer a standardized solution in an oxidative stable oil. Which is practical and affordable to use. The resulting solution is deep red in colour and easy to use.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE GROMWELL EXTRACTS WE STOCK
- Gromwell CO2 Extract: Supercritical extractions are the most potent. Has a dark pinkish-purple colour. Very potent for several kinds of inflamed skin.
- Lithospernum root oil: The natural root oil with a pinkish colour.
- Lithospernum Extract oil: An extraction of the Japanese flower with a deep purplish hue. Fantastic for acne and inflamed skin– DISCONTINUED.
