DESCRIPTION: Lactic Acid is a multifunctional cosmetic ingredient, derived from milk or through the fermentation of corn.  The human body produces and utilizes, this gentle acid to maintain its optimal pH balance (Acid Mantle) used in the defence against fungus and bacteria. Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliates cells o­n the surface of the skin by breaking down the material that holds skin cells together

Lactic Acid, when compared to Glycolic or Citric Acids, shows greatly reduced irritation while offering pronounced efficacy in exfoliating and skin rejuvenating formulations. When used at concentrations of 2% active) or less, Lactic Acid will perform;  pH regulating, antimicrobial, and moisture-binding functions. When used at concentrations higher than 2%, Lactic Acid will perform the same functions as well as offering:

Always follow with adequate sunscreen.  Important: Do not use Lactic acid pure and undiluted; the solution is highly acidic and can lead to skin irritation and skin burns
