DESCRIPTION: Rhodiola is a plant that grows on the rocks in high-rise mountains in South Korea. It can also be found in the mountainous parts of Europe. It is a multifaceted active involved in inhibiting inflammation, skin lightening, anti-ageing and protecting the skin from UV damage.
Salidroside, a major component of Rhodiola extract, helps protect the skin cells from the damaging effects of UV radiation. It also helps inhibit DNA damage. It stimulates the skin to produce more cells increasing cell turnover for a fresher skin appearance. It prevents premature ageing due to its strong antioxidant effects. It also has tyrosinase inhibitory activity – inducing skin lightening.
Clinical studies show that it activates the skin’s natural defence mechanism by strengthening the function of the cell membrane. It helps compact the skin, working on stretchmarks, firming the skin and improving smoothness. It also offers increased elasticity, breast elasticity enhancement, and breast firming. Rhodiola helps improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; Rhodiola has a stimulating effect on fibroblasts in the dermis. It can promote the division of fibroblasts and secrete collagen while also secreting collagenase.
In haircare, Rhodiola extract strengthens and increases elasticity and prevents hair frizz.
