DMDM Hydantoin is considered a “formaldehyde donor” type of preservative, so is unsuitable for natural cosmetic formulations. Please see our Ecocert-compliant preservative – Aquaguard NK12. Formaldehyde donors release a small amount of formaldehyde overtime to help keep products fresh and free from contaminants.
