DESCRIPTION: Genti-White (Methyl Gentisate) serves as an effective skin lightening agent, functioning as a precursor to hydroquinone without the associated side effects. In addition to its depigmenting properties, it exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and mild keratolytic activities. Methyl Gentisate is an ester of Gentisic acid, a natural compound derived from Gentiana roots. Acting as a prodrug for hydroquinone, it releases hydroquinone within the intercellular regions of the skin.
As a tyrosinase inhibitor, Genti-White reduces the enzyme’s activity, thereby decreasing melanin synthesis and promoting a lighter skin tone, a more even skin tone and brighter complexion. It demonstrates efficacy against hyperpigmentation, including acne spots and persistent dark patches, and helps address pigmentation issues resulting from oxidative stress by protecting skin cells from oxidative damage. Its anti-inflammatory action also minimizes excessive pigmentation following injury, such as that caused by acne or cuts. Furthermore, Genti-White provides mild keratolytic benefits by promoting the proliferation of keratinocytes through the phosphorylation of ERK1/2, contributing to improved skin clarity and radiance.
