DESCRIPTION: A plant-derived lipid that enhances the skin’s barrier function with superior moisturization properties and treats skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. It has anti-inflammatory properties, reduces transepidermal water loss, soothes irritated skin, prevents skin flakiness, and acts as an emollient. It also provides some protection against sunburn.
Phytosterol Ester mimics the skin’s natural cholesterol. Compared to cosmetic cholesterol (which is primarily animal based) is that it has improved solubility, of Non-GMO vegan origin and improved stability over free phytosterols. With better solubility and effectiveness in cosmetics making them ideal for oil-based products and emulsions
Mechanism of Activity: Phytosterol Ester work by integrating into the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin. This integration reinforces the skin’s natural lipid barrier, helping to reduce transepidermal water loss and strengthen the skin’s protective function. Additionally, their anti-inflammatory properties soothe irritation and assist the skin in recovering from environmental stressors.
