DESCRIPTION: O-Cymen Solution is a solution containing the nature-identical thyme extract (O-cymen-5-ol in a solvent). It is an anti-fungal preservative used in formulation to prevent microbial growth and boost the shelf life of products. It is not a paraben or a formaldehyde releaser, making it a favorable agent in free-from formulations.

O-Cymen Solution significantly inhibits and kills bacteria, yeast, and molds at low dosages (0.1 – 1.0%). It is beneficial in anti-acne formulations due to its antimicrobial properties and skin oiliness-reducing ability. It also has an antioxidant feature, inhibiting oxidation – this is a perfect addition to natural formulations. It is gentle enough for oral formulations (toothpaste). It can also absorb specific wavelengths of ultraviolet light.

APPLICATIONS: In creams, lotions. all kinds of emulsions, for treating microbial issues and preserving the formula.

HOW TO USE

INCI: O-cymen-5-ol (and) Propanediol.

Solubility: For emulsions

Use rate: 0.5 – 1.0% (1.0% is ideal in formulations exposed to consumer contamination such as creams in jars. In regular products with controlled exposure, 0.5% is adequate).

Temperature Tolerance: Avoid temperatures above 80°C (may turn yellow at high temperature, but it does not affect use.

pH Stability: 3.0 – 7.0

Appearance: Colourless to pale beige viscous liquid

Assay: 10% Active

Storage: Store in a cool, dark, and dry place.
