DESCRIPTION: Polyglutamic acid is said to be the most effective moisturizer in cosmetics, being able to absorb water about 5000 times its weight. It moisturizes the skin very effectively and makes the skin feel smoother and silky. It is a peptide derived from the mucilage of natto (soybean) through natural biotechnology. It contains enzymes, oligosaccharides, and vitamins which are beneficial for the skin. The polyglutamic acid we stock comes with a low molecular weight, making it very effective.

Polyglutamic acid (or sodium glutamate) is a multifunctional active which inhibits the activity of hyaluronidase (natural Hyaluronic acid destruction metabolic process). It also increases hyaluronic acid content in the skin, increases NMF amino acid levels and pyrrolidone carboxylic acid (PCA), lactic acid and urocanic acid; this way, Polyglutamic acid boosts the skin’s natural ability to hold moisture, calms and strengthens sensitive skin. It also enables the skin to absorb nutrients by a sustained release transport system. It helps maintain the skin’s pH, brightens the skin by inhibiting melanin biosynthesis, improves skin elasticity and protects the skin from environmental stress.

In one research, it proved more effective than collagen and hyaluronic acid. During 28 days, a cosmetic formulation containing Polyglutamic acid was shown to improve skin’s natural moisturizing factor and elasticity more effectively than collagen and hyaluronic acid.

In addition to skin care, research has shown that Polyglutamic acid can be used as an additive to increase hair strength to better withstand the bleaching process. It maintains hair strength by increasing its natural moisture retention ability and forming a protective layer on the hair.
