DESCRIPTION: Kojic acid is a skin-lightening and anti-aging active. It is a potent and fast-acting tyrosinase inhibitor. Tyrosinase is the compound responsible for the production of melanin. Kojic acid reduces existing melanin also, thereby de-pigmenting the skin. Kojic acid successfully reduces age spots and hyperpigmentation. It is also effective in fading UV-induced pigmentation.

- Kojic acid is unstable in aqueous formulas; the addition of UV-Shield and Active-Shield will help keep it from browning. Dark packaging is also advised.
